This council is currently chaired by Fine
Gael’s Thomas O’Neill.
There are nine elected representatives in
total on the council; currently they consist of three Fine Gael, three
Fianna Fáil, two Labour and one Independent. The balance of power is
held by Fine
Gael and Labour.
Some oft
he key issues for the council are
flooding along the river Barrow, thefts and robberies, eradicating drug
dealing and related crimes, improving business and encouraging more
industry in town and tackling anti-social behaviour.
The

election in the Local Elections in June. Further information on more

becomes available.
