The present Cathaoirleach of Carlow
County Council is Fine Gael’s Denis Foley.
There are 21 elected representatives from
across the county who currently sit on the council: eight Fianna Fáil,
seven Fine Gael, four Labour, one Independent and one Green Party. The
balance of power is held by Fine
Gael and Labour.
Some of
the key issues for this council are
attracting industry and business to the county, maintaining road
surfaces and signage in the county, and thefts and robberies.
The
following people have indicated that they will be standing for
election in the Local Elections in June. Further information on more
candidates who declare themselves for election will be added as it
becomes available.
