Kilkenny Borough council is currently
chaired by the Mayor, Fine Gael’s Pat Crotty.
There are twelve elected members. The
current party breakdown is: four Fianna Fáil, four Fine Gael, three
Labour and one Green.
The balance of power is held by Fine
Gael and Labour.
Some of the key issues for the council are
unfinished housing estates and properties, maintaining business in the
city centre, anti-social behaviour and the Central Access Scheme.
The
following people have indicated that they will be standing for election
in the Local Elections in June. Further information on more candidates
who declare themselves for election will be added as it becomes
available.
