Kilkenny
County Council is currently chaired by Labour’s Tomás Breathnach.
There are 26 elected representatives consisting of: eleven Fine Gael,
eight Fianna Fáil, five Labour, one Independent and one Green Party.
The balance of power is held by Fine Gael and Labour.
Some of the key issues for the council include concerns of committees in
the Waterford-Kilkenny boundary areas, loss of major industries in South
and North Kilkenny, poor road surfaces and signage.
The
following people have indicated that they will be standing for election
in the Local Elections in June. Further information on more candidates
who declare themselves for election will be added as it becomes
available.
